Project Management
Project Management is what keeps an interior design project on course from the first site visit to the final handover. It brings together the design, the budget, the schedule and the many people who build the space, so that what was agreed on paper is what is delivered on site.
This stage begins once the design direction is confirmed. The scope of work is broken down into clear packages, a realistic timeline is prepared, and each trade, supplier and delivery is sequenced so that one team’s work does not hold up the next. A single point of contact keeps the process organised and the client informed.
Throughout the project, costs are tracked against the approved budget. Quotations are compared, variations are reviewed before they are committed, and any change to the scope is explained in terms of cost and time. This keeps expectations clear and helps prevent unexpected expenses from appearing late in the project.
There are many factors to manage, including the order of works, lead times for materials and furniture, approvals from the management office or authorities where required, site access, and consideration for neighbouring units. Regular site visits and clear records help decisions to be made quickly and nothing to be left to chance.
Among the things we manage on every project are:
- Schedule. Is every trade sequenced so that works flow without delays or clashes?
- Budget control. Are costs tracked against the approved budget, and are changes agreed before work begins?
- Contractors and suppliers. Are the right specialists appointed, briefed and coordinated on site?
- Quality control. Are materials, finishes and workmanship checked against the approved design at each stage?
- Site supervision. Are safety, cleanliness and workflow maintained throughout the works?
- Communication. Does the client receive timely updates, clear explanations and prompt answers?
- Handover. Is the completed space inspected and any defects rectified before the keys are returned?
These responsibilities show why project management matters as much as the design itself. By addressing them methodically, we at M Atelier help ensure that the vision developed in the earlier stages is carried through accurately, on time and within the budget agreed with our clients.
For homeowners, good project management brings peace of mind during a demanding period, knowing that someone is looking after every detail on site. For businesses, it shortens the time a space is out of use and protects the investment made in the fit-out.
At M Atelier, we place strong emphasis on clear communication, careful planning and accountability. We work closely with our clients, contractors and suppliers so that every project is managed calmly and professionally from start to finish.
